For microwave and coffeemaker I do have inverter, so no need for a generator unless I stay for several days. Than for emergency I am carrying 900W generator that weights 20 lb and powers micro/coffee just fine. Cost me new $85, so not a big deal.
When on the road, engine-powered AC always worked for us and again, we travel often via 100F +.
For us camping is just that >>> camping.
Sitting inside RV whole day and listening to compressor noise just doesn't cut and below is how we deal with high heat in Mexico.
The RV rallies we attend are different story, but those were always with full hookups, so no generator needed.
Although trying camping on Mojave Desert is on my bucket list, just to try it, so maybe after 30 years of camping I will need a generator.
