Hello all, I've been a member here for a long time, but haven't posted since 2007 I think.
About 15 months ago we bought a brand new 2015 Four Winds 33SW. At this time, it has spent over 4 months in the shop. The shop is almost a 3 hour round trip for us, and given we have to spend that time twice - once to take it and once to pick it up - it is extremely frustrating.
So far, the slide out has been repaired three times, we had the leaking water pump issue, two rain leaks have been (hopefully) fixed, the forward mud flaps were eaten by the rear tires, several drawer related issues have occurred, and yes I had the slow fuel fill issue on both tanks. I have had issues with one of the storage compartments flooding with water. I'm sure I have forgotten a bunch of minor stuff that has been fixed, such as the window over the couch rattling open while going down the road...
Anyway, here is my current situation. I have a few problems that I do not want to mess with using the extended warranty on unless I have to, partly because we don't want to take 3 hours out of our day to take it to the shop.
1. The inverter control panel is reporting E02 and showing 11.5 volts. The control panel by the bathroom door shows full charge. I checked the water in the batteries and they are both topped off. I have tried charging the batteries externally, but once I connect them back, I still show 11.5 volts on the Xantrex controller.
2. The Automatic generator start does not work. In fact, it never has, and I have never remembered to complain about it when I take it in. If I hit the test button, I can hear the generator preparing to start, then it will CLICK like it's about to start, then go dead. I can start the genset manually at the control panel.
3. This is a question, not a problem. Does anyone know how the batteries are charged when on shore power? The manual for the Xantrex states a charging system must be installed, but the Thor manual says the inverter charges the batteries when on shore power. The Xantrex panel does not have settings for changing charging amperage or viewing charging statistics, so I'm assuming t is not what charges the house batteries?
I really thought this was going to be the perfect motorhome for us, since we need to tow 7,000 lbs plus on a fairly frequent basis. But all these issues are starting to wear on us, buyers remorse has set in heavily at this point.
Good to hear that Ford will deal with the rear tank. I just received a recall notice for some sort of emissions calibration, so I need to take it in anyway. Oh, that reminds me, I have to also tell them about some other Ford related issues - I've gotten 3 check engine lights, and also on a mountain climb the engine's fan clutch did not engage quickly enough and we experienced an overheating issue for a few seconds. The fan did finally kick in and cool things down, but it should have kicked in much sooner.
