Lower Table? 2010 Four Winds Chateau Sprinter

After one year of traveling in our B+ Fours Winds Chateau on a Dodge Sprinter chassis, we would like to lower dining table t o use as a bed.

There is a collar at top of shaft with four screws fastening shaft to table.

Before I start removing screws on my back of my 76 year old body, I would appreciate any advise from those who have done it.

We are traveling now and I confess to leaving Owner Manual at home. I don't recall it even addresses this question.

Please help.

Thanks,

Joe Chernow
  • Got it !

    Thanks folks.

Used WD40 around post at bottom. Then wife and I were are able to twist it free and then lifted.

    Then same with top couple.

We were reluctant to apply our senior strength until you'll advised that's how it works.

    Regards,

    Joe and Dee
  • I have a removable table and sometimes I have trouble removing it, especially if it has been a while. Try this with two people. One stands on one of the bench seats, the other stands on the other bench seat (or seating down if you like) . They each twist the table in opposite directions so as to loosen it, while pulling up on the table at the same time. That twisting motion and pulling up with the force of two people should break it free. Some W-4 might help.
  • Thanks, Mike.

    Ous is a single pedestal.

I'm concluding that the top collar is simply stuck (frozen).

I am going to try tapping with hammer.

If that doesn't work, I will remove screws holding ta ble to top collar and use
penetrating oil to try to loosen.

  • This is what the online owners manual says:

    Pedestal
The dinette can also be converted into an additional bed if required. To convert, lift the table top off
of the two support posts. Remove the support posts from the floor and lay them down between the
seats. Insert the table top between the seats on the ledges provided. Loosen the seat cushion from
the Velcro fasteners and slide each together to form the bed. Reverse this process when
    reconverting to the dinette configuration.

    Wall Mounted
This dinette can also be converted into an additional bed. Lift the aisle side of the table and and
pinch in the pins on the table leg to collapse the leg. Unhook from side wall and swing into place.
The table supports on the dinette base. Loosen the seat cushion from the Velcro fasteners and
slide each together to form the bed. Reverse this process when reconverting to the dinette
    configuration.

    hope that helps..
  • Old-Biscuit,

Wife and I tried real hard pulling up on table. No success. Doesn't move at all.

Table very solid - no wobble.

    But thanks.

  • Pull up on table separating it from pole
Pull up on pole removing it from base
    Place table on support rails
Place back cushions on top of table

    On Edit:

Found an on-line manual.....pg. 70 describes the different tables so if above isn't yours (pedestal type) then follow directions for other ones
