I've heard (read) several mentions of additional *brackets* or support provided in the new 3trax models on various forums, but no one can seem to confirm with any certainty. Honestly, based on the few conversations I've had with Lippert, I think anytime a owner/customer calls about something like retrofitting the 3trax to an existing 2 track system, they will just tell them that it isn't possible and advise them to just replace their parts with existing system parts.
After my shop was able to purchase the 3trax kit to retrofit mine, I read a few various forum posts where people had been told it couldn't be retrofitted due to various reasons; though these were primarily from Palazzo RV forums, so maybe those coaches had to add some sort of support brackets. I called Lippert to see if I could purchase it to retrofit my 2 track system. The person that I spoke with claimed to have consulted with their tech group and they advised against doing so/it wasn't possible. This was not the same response my shop got, which is why I believe it comes down to who is asking Lippert the question. Plus, I see situations where someone like RobbieH had their's retrofitted...
I am anxious to see if this works, because aside from the general build quality issues with the coach (mainly trim pieces coming lose and such), many of which I've already corrected myself, we like the layout and the coach overall. During our 2 week, 2800 mile family trip, the lower rear gear slipped a few more times and resulted in it being about 1.5" out when the other three corners were fully retracted. This was halfway into our trip and 1000+ miles from home. So we spend the final week only extending the slide about 6 inches every place we stopped, just to to make sure that if we had a full mechanical failure, at least it wouldn't be COMPLETELY out. heh.
