Thor v Forest River

I have been researching and looking at GAS Class A's for a little over a year, and am ready to move ahead. I have narrowed down to two floorplans that meet my requirements. I know all RVs have good and bad issues. I am looking for information to help decide between Thor Challenger 37KT and Forest River Georgetown 378TS. To stay in my price range, I will be buying something in the 2012-2015 model years. I will be purchasing in the next 6 months (hopefully) and beginning to live in it full time in about a year.

Between the two, what do you know about the manufacturer's build and sturdiness? Do either of them or Ford have a "bad year" I would need to avoid? Both seem to have same chassis, so it really is going to come down to the MH part of the rig. At what point, should I figure major appliances (furnace, water heater, etc) become an issue.

I guess I just need to know that I am not making a huge mistake in choosing one of these, basing my decision on the floorplan that I think I can live with for a long time.

  • Without looking at both, I'd choose Forest River blind...lesser of two evils..but you may need an independent to look at each..Thor has had some horror stories....but then again Forest River too but less so.
