Timely Oil Changes

With manufactures of gas engines upping the mileage between oil changes, ( use to be 3000 then it went to 7000 and I have heard as high as 10,000 miles) I am wondering if the rule of changing the oil once a year still holds true?
Thanks for any and all comments!

  • The oil doesn't go bad, it collects contaminants the filter can't get rid of, including moisture. I change the oil in my tv once a year. It works out to be about 6000 miles.

Did not know that oil goes bad in a year. Guess we need a born on date on the oil we buy.

I have never heard of oil changes once a year. It totally depends on your mileage and conditions.

Then you haven't read the section in your owners manual about maintenance. :S
  • I change the oil annually in our diesel trucks as we seldom ever drive them 10K per year. My oil change interval is annually or every 10K, which ever comes first.

Happy camping!!! See y'all down the road!!!:)
