tinting windshield windows

A manufacturer's tint strip is allowed along the top of the front windshield, above the AS-1 line. The rest of the front windshield must be clear.So it is not illegal.

I just had my whole windshield tinted with a 50% shade of a high quailty film, you can see in the rv fine it just take the edge off. I do know that it is illegal to tint the windshield but, most law enforcement people will tell you that if they can see you it is really not an issue. I had my truck done the same way years ago and i never had a problem.

There is a product called Llumar, I believe, it is a film that is applied to the inside of a window, it really cuts the heat and is almost transparent. I have seen it demonstrated and it makes a big difference. Looking at having the windshields of my cars done.

Hee Hee - a Mustang with a two way radio mounted and hidden in the glove box. Was a DEA covert unmarked car. Very dark tint all the way around!

Generally there are very strong restrictions on tinting the windshield or the side windows in front of the "B" pillar (A pillar is the one at the edge of the windshield, B (normally) is the one behind the front seat) Even if your vehicle does not have a "B" pillar. imagine one.

Product might be "V-cool". I had my whole coach (less windshield) done a few years ago. Driver & passenger sides got a tint that didn't darken but reduces heat, UV rays etc and I believe it was V-cool. Rest of the coach got a mirrored exterior commercial tint. I have been pleased with reducing inside temps without touching the windshield.
