Tips for merging

My experience is that engineers can't spread the idea to general public.
I live close to the point where 45mph 4 lane highway merge into 2-lane 30mph street, so see the practice every single day.
"Merging" for average driver means "step on the brakes, while swearing to next lane and see who do you cut off"
Other funny observation, they guy who is blocking 45mph fast lane driving 30 mph, will speed up once he sees merge with coming 30mph limit.

Maybe in the NE there are some. There certainly are not on the vast majority of approaches. The reason given for removing them, was because it caused too many drivers merging, to "yield", stopping, way too much.

The engineers want merging drivers to accelerate rapidly, so they are going as fast, or slightly faster, than the traffic on the road.

All highway on ramps I have seen have a YIELD sign on the approach ramps. Have a safe day! Obey all the rules of the road.
