See the previous post showing a picture of a yield sign on an approach here in VA (I-95 near Richmond). That is a recent photo.
Maybe in the NE there are some. There certainly are not on the vast majority of approaches. The reason given for removing them, was because it caused too many drivers merging, to "yield", stopping, way too much.
The engineers want merging drivers to accelerate rapidly, so they are going as fast, or slightly faster, than the traffic on the road.
