Tire advice

I am going to buy 2 new front tires for my Holiday Rambler 40PLQ, diesel pusher. The choice is Michelins for $1300 for both, installed or Hankooks, which I've never heard of, for $1130. Anyone have any experience with these tires? Advice?

  • Also take a look at Toyo. Either made in US or Japan. Just got 6 M143 19.5" for $2477. They're 16 ply load range H

I bought 6 Michelin 22.5 last month for $500.00 each mounted, balance every thing.
But I checked the tires this morning, front tires have 105psi rear 103psi.
My old ones I carried 100 psi front and 95 psi rear. What's y'alls opinion on that??
There is a card on the drivers side door that says 105 front and 95 rear.

You might be getting a better tire with Hankook, without paying for a name, even though Hankook is becoming a name in the industry as well. I'm having some good service from Hercules, a Chinese brand without paying for the name, as well and feel that if it has the DOT number on it, it meets highway safety standards.
  • Check the FMCA/Michelin prices before you buy. My dealer couldn't come close to them.

  • I looked hard at Hankook tires and have friends that like them a lot. What I found was that my Michelin 275/70r/22.5 tires which I inflate to 100 PSI based on 4 corner weight, was that the Hankooks were not rated for the same weight unless I inflated them to 130 PSI. My wheels are rated for Max 120 PSI. The dealer kept telling me no problem just lower the PSI etc. but I was uncomfortable with what I was finding ( if I was correct) so went back with the Michelins.
  • I don't have a DP.
I do have a 96 Southwind. Several years ago I replaced the Michelin tires with Hankook.

Hankook is a good tire, I've had no problems.

    I'll buy Hankook again.

  • Many RVers use Hankook tires on their motorhomes. I put them on my HR in 2010 and have been very satisfied with them. I have the AH-12, which replaced the POS Goodyear that came on it and rivered extremely bad on the steer axle. Have NOT had any problems with the Hankook.

Also run Hankook DynaPro tires on my truck and car.
  • Hankook is a highly respected Korean tire company. Using the search button at the top of the page should yeild several threads on MH tires for you to read
