Glad everyone was okay (except for your wallet).
First thing I did when I bought my vintage rig was put 7 new tires on it (okay 6, then the 7th a couple of months later for the spare). I had factored it into the purchase price.
I see people here touting the value of an aftermarket TPM system. Seems to me that for $300 it's well worth the peace of mind. They monitor both pressure and temperature. I have it on my Christmas wish list :)
