IMO, tire mfgs build UV protection into the tires during the mfg process. As the tires rotate and warm up, this protection comes to the surface of the tire and does it's job. However, if a tire simply sits for a period of time, this protection fails as it cannot come to the surface which is one of the reasons why it's recommended to take your RV out for a spin periodically. If you don't do this then covering your tires is a good idea. The biggest advantage is in the temp drop from the sun which is easily measured. IIRC, white covers drop the temps about 38% while black drops it about 31%. Tire covers also have another plus, they tend to keep the rims from getting dirty...:)....Dennis
