Tire fires
What's with all the tire fires I've been reading about. Is it due to lack of maintanice or something else. Thanks for your input.

Most likely dragging brakes causes initial overheat, followed by fire, followed by tire failure.
I had one incident with a dragging brake on an F-53 that caused a grease fire behind the hub. Luckily I caught it as I stopped and quickly brought under control with a fire extinguisher.
