- 2oldmanExplorer III don't suppose the person who blew the tire happened to notice any fire.
It's next to impossible to escape smoke. I've spent the past month in southern ID, northern NV, southern NV, mid UT, and now southern UT. It's everywhere. - profdant139Explorer II
- DutchmenSportExplorerFor some reason, I have a hard time swallowing this story! I would sooner believe someone threw a lit cigarette butt out their window and that's what started the fire.
Several years ago, I was standing outside a popular book store. Around the building was mulch and bushes. I noticed smoke coming from the mulch in one spot and several cigarette butts. I went inside quickly and told the casher who said the fire department had already been call. And before I could finish the conversation, the fire department pulled up. By now, the bush was on fire. Every since, I've been angry as He!! at people throwing cigarette butts on the ground ... anywhere! - pasusanExplorer

Oh come on... Have you ever had a trailer tire blow? Most of us have - and you don't even know it. You don't know until you stop and see the damage to your trailer from the tire. I can easily see someone driving along - not knowing and the rim against the pavement causes sparks.

Or maybe you think this is fake news? - old_guyExplorerI have seen many wheat field fires around here that have been caused by blow outs and over heated wheel bearings. blow outs that cause the rim to come into contact with the road surface and sparks are flying will cause a filed to catch fire in a heart beat

Ok. I guess you can believe whatever you want. Why would they lie?

That is why we have so many fires, people don’t realize how little it takes to set Dry grass on fire, a light breeze a small red hot fragment of Steel from a tire rim and you have a fire.
