Do the remote TPMS sensors work when attached to the valves on a vehicle that already has the factory TPMS system?
Depends on the valve stem.
Example the valve stems on my Subaru Outback with factory internal TPMS are quite long and flexible. From my experience with the system I use on my truck and 5th wheel I doubt the Subaru valve stems would be able to handle a sensor without a lot of movement caused by the sensor.
A stout preferable metal valve stem is best.
I agree-- if the valve stem is not metal, whether because of internal TPMS or not, you shouldn't use an external mounted TPMS sensor.
A quick search found these metal stem sensors that say they are for Subaru's. Did not search for best price, just that there was such an animal.
