I checked once before leaving for the road and I stopped in the first half hour to just feel the temps. I found out that in the process of checking the pressure a valve would stick and I'd have a low tire. This was the biggest reason for buying the TPMS.
And yes on the air compressor.
X2. I had one stuck with a very slow leak that could not be heard.
