Tire Presures ... Hot and Cold
I know tires have recommended pressures listed on the sidewall and always assumed it is the hot number. Is there an average rule of thumb as to the temperature swings between hot and cold. 5, 10 or 15...

To many variables to apply a constant. Air temperature, sunshine, air pressure/loading, road temperature, road surface type,,,. Even different tire designs generate different amounts of heat. As such sidewall and pressure tables are for cold temperatures. If you need to check a hot tire your best avenue is to compare tire pressures for the same axle. As long as they started out the same once hot they should be close. Making pressure adjustments to a hot tire isn't recommended unless it is below the normal cold pressure which means you probably have a leak.
