I think you will find that the correlation between the temperature a TPMS system measures (the air chamber) and the tread surface temperature is NOT well correlated - that the tread surface temperature is more controlled by the temperature of the road surface, while the air chamber temperature is more controlled by the speed/load/inflation pressure. Sure both will go up together from a cold start. but the actual readings will not be consistent from winter to summer.
Side note: I am struggling to find the exact words to convey the idea that while a tire builds up heat from a cold start and both the tread surface and the air chamber's temperatures will rise as that happens - and that when the temps stabilize, they will do so because of different reasons - and operating a tire in cold weather will result in a different tread surface temperature compared to the airchamber - vs hot weather.
