Tires

Buying new tires. Class A. Have to go to 18ply. Cooper or Michelin??
Cooper half price and with the replacement every five to seven years don't seem to get the full goodies out of the Michelins. Anyone run Coopers out there and if so are they a good tire? Thanks
  • WE just installed a pair of Hercules (manufactured by Cooper) on the steer axle of our MH. We've only had one trip with them, but seem to be a better ride than the Goodyears that came off. Our tire guy suggested them because they sell a lot of them for medium-duty trucks and said they've held up well. You may consider looking into them.

  • I put on a set of Hankooks that size and like them. They ride better than the Michelins did and were $1000 less.
  • Size is 275-70R-22.5 Coopers are the Roadmaster RM2 and the Michelins are the XZA-2. Both sets are mid months of 2015. Goodyears were 2014 an don't want to buy something already a year old that only has a ten year life.

    What size?
Commercial tires last 10 year easy.
Both brands are good, but also both have better and worse series of tires.

A proclamation that hasnt been substantiated nor even believed by the majority of RV drivers

There are lots of tires better than Cooper and almost all are less$$$ than Mich's.

I shopped for 3 months and found tires less $$ than Coopers or any of them. Firestones
  • Yeah even my old 5er would age out before they would wear out. I would never leave them on past the 7 year mark. After watching these accident threads I think 6 sounds better.
I'm not personally a big Cooper fan. What about Bridgestone?
