  • I found 8.00 X 16.5 online at TIRESEASY.COM . Six tires for about $780 . Has anyone ever bought tires from them ?
  • Kind of in the same spot here. I have a 1984 Class C with 8.75xR16.5. I wanted to put newer tires on it but just like you I couldn't find any so I did some googling and among other results I got the following.

I hope they will help you too. I already bought 4 brand new 215/85/16 off kijiji for 350. Looking for another pair same size + spare and rims which will also be challenging. Good luck

    Oh, Boy!!!

What Chassis do you have? I thought 'most every chassis had gone to 16" wheels by then. What's the background of this coach? I hope somebody didn't back-fit it with wheels/tires they had on hand or found a cheap deal on.

Fords later than 1984 will just accept the 16" wheels in place of the 16.5's. If I recall, the GM chassis (Chevy/GMC) would also. I saw a Dodge where it seemed the wheels had been swapped to 16" but later heard there was more to it. Like Fords 1983 and older...

The 8.75R16.5 size is more available today than the 8.00 and usually seems to work.

Way Way Down in This PDF there's a Dual Wheel Spacing Chart that says the 8.75 needs just under an inch (0.9") more spacing than the 8.00. Chart explains how to determine what your spacing is now. Knowing that, you can check the offset of wheels you find.

I have the Chart as a one-page .pdf If you want it, PM me with your email ID and I can attach a copy. Used to be available on WEB as just a page but I haven't been able to find it lately.
  • Yes Ross,

    I have some idea...
My coach came with 8.75x16.5 and they are not easy to find as the only US manufacturer is Firestone. Many are already old on the shelf.

After some searching, I was able to find rims with the correct hub center diameter, bolt circle, offset and shape (required to clear the brakes) that are 16" and the same width. I suggest that you collect at least those dimentsions and start hunting. It will help you a lot if you know who made the chassis of your coach. The wheels you want are pretty common in agrarian areas (Not East MA). You may be able to get them from Southwest Wheel, but the the shipping will be a big issue.

If you do find 8.00R16.5 read the date code before you pay for them. Tires only last about seven years on the shelf on the road.
