As the economy continues to improve, the cost of rental cars will increase and renting is a PITA.
Let's say you're in an RV park and you're working on something - maybe you have a burned out tale light bulb or needed to work on the closet handles? Are you going to pack up the Class A or rent a car to go buy a bulb or some screws? What if you run out of beer - pack up the Class A to go get a six-pack? What if the RV park you're in doesn't have washers and dryers - pack up the Class A to go do the wash? And then try to find a laundry place that has room to park the Class A. What if you want to go out for dinner some night?
We spend more time camped someplace besides an RV park than we do in one, therefore we use our toad (a Jeep Wrangler) to scout places to stay.
If you're going to enjoy your travels, find something to tow. I have a friend who tows a Chevy 3/4T 4X4 CC diesel with his Polaris Razr up on top of the truck bed.
