Car Camping

Hello,  We will be Car camping during the summer in Kentucky and wondered how others stay cool doing this. We are looking into window covers for our truck but I know the humidity will get us. Also what can we use to fight off Mosquitoes as I get bit a lot? Any tips out there for us? Thanks!

  • Get a canopy type of shelter. Just one of the ones with 4 corner posts. Get a 10X10 or a 12X12. Put it up where you are parking and park under it keeping the topper in the shade. Get a battery-operated, solar charged fan. Amazon is loaded with them. With how you are camping that is about the most you can do.

  • as far as mosquito's go, I bought a thermacell mosquito repellant unit two seasons ago, I have been nothing short of amazed as to how well it works.

  • Our RV is too large for this trip so we are using our truck with cap as our RV.

  • Well, gotta say, this thread and the OPs questions are not as absurd as some…

To be kind, I’ll suggest a small air conditioner and bug repellent.

We bought a battery fan but im not sure it will help with the heat. No electric for AC at night.

We still have it but doing this road trip without it. We have a large truck with cap on this trip.

  • Given that this is an RV forum I'll go ahead and speak for everyone. All your concerns are easily addressed by buying an RV.

There really needs to be a laughing emoji for posts like this.
You’re asking for advice about mosquito repellant and apparently how to magically stay cool in the back of a truck when it’s hot with no AC.
        ROFLMAO.
I have 2 portable Air conditioners I don’t need. I’ll selll ya one if you come thru Spokane on your trip. lol.
