Toilet upgrade and chemical question

This is an older topic - but an update on the Horst Sensors - Valterra has purchased the company and will be re-introducing those sensors under their brand soon.

For some reason finding Horst Probes is like finding hens teeth.

SeeLevel is a good system....but too pricy for me to just show tank level.

Toilet burps.......time to dump
Sink/Shower draining slower....time to dump
Water pump goes burrrrrrrrrrrp....should have already put more water in fresh water tank

watch putting aqua kem tank chemical in your toilet if you dump into your home septic system as it contains formaldehyde wich is bad for your septic tank.

Oh, maybe they are out of business? It has been a few years since we bought them and did them. I remember them being around $30. That's too bad. But yeah, the SeeLevel sticking-on sure would be a cleaner job!

Our previous TT drove us crazy and we installed Horst Miracle Probes, much chaper than adding SeeLevel sensors. Not a super-pleasant job to install them, but they did the trick! Well my local RV parts place had a 310 sitting on the shelf so I bought it. Not looking forward to the install but I am looking forward to it being done.

After reading a lot on here I decided to try the Geo method since I was headed to my folk's place this weekend for our thanksgiving. Apparently it worked. All the water that came out was clear and from what I can see through the toilet, the tank is clean.

Now if I can just get those stupid sensors to work. No amount of spray wanding has worked. I may just break down and get some see-levels. First world problems I guess. I'm just happy the tank isn't disgusting anymore and soon I'll have a non-disgusting toilet.

I bought a Thetford Aria. Bowl shape and size are an issue for those of who are "bigger than average". It was very expensive, but the biggest unit I could fit in the space I had.

The Dometic 320 looks great and would be my next choice.

Everyone I met with the hand sprayer said they never used it.

Chemicals. All depends WHERE you RV.

If you RV down in the south and if you ever are where you have to wait until full to dump? You will find chemicals are necessary. Yup it's only a holding tank but with temps around 98 degrees when you flush it's a straight open shot to the tank that is now boiling sewage at 98 degrees! Do the math there will be smells coming up that opening no matter how fast you close it! :W

The original standby marine/RV chemicals 'breakdown' waste and toilet paper. IMHO this keeps the solids from sticking to sensors and clogs down by the blades.
I use chemicals and 10 years counting 'my' sensors work all the time.

Hand sprayer.....use it when brush cleaning porcelain bowl and when cleaning bowl seal

Dometic 310......prefer the 320 due to elongated seat
