Toilets and Slosh Valve

Even though our Thor Challenger is new I don't like the toilet in the half bath. I'm going to replace it but need to find a toilet that has the greatest distance from the front of the seat to the bowl. Have looked at Dometic 320 at about 4" but Camping World would not open the box to check a Aqua-Magic Residential. Any input?

Anyone have water loss when traveling from a "slosh value" on the water tank per Camping World where we purchased the unit. Loosing 1/3 of a tank while traveling, just seems wrong to us.

Thor confirms there is a line in the top of the tank where water will slosh out. They say you can install a duck bill valve to stop the water loss but state you should not travel with the tank full. Easy for them to say but hard to do when you need all the water you can get when off the grid.

To clarify toilet needs Dominic 320 will work but seeking other options. Just don't want Johnson laying on the bowl

I'm confused and must be missing something. RV toilets do not have a tank, they only have a bowl. Are you losing water out of the toilet bowl?
Or are you losing water out of your fresh water tank, into the toilet bowl, and then out the vent/overflow.

If out of the bowl; on the last toilet use before hitting the road only fill the bowl about 3/4 of an inch to cover the valve to stop odors. Next time you need to use the toilet just add water and go. It uses the same amount of water either way.

the line at the top of the tank is for overflow (as i described in my previous post) - its there for a reason , but it should only allow for a inch or so of run off or sloshing. if you're loosing a lot then the overflow could be creating a siphon effect (hopefully they don't have a tube into the tank that would enable this).

also make certain your fresh water tank/drain valve is completely shut & is not leaking.

I always fill my tanks at my residence - because i trust/know my water supply & what the faucets & hoses have been used for. If you can find a trusted water supply closer to where you dry camp then that could allow you to fill the tanks completely full w/ less loss and allow you reduce your trip/carry weight & possibly even increase your trip/mpg.

Never heard of a slosh valve either.

As to toilets there are two options

    One is round
    one is oval
With very few exceptions all the round, be it RV or Sticks & Bricks use the same seats.

And with the ovlas, there are two different seats, again all 100% interchangeable (One is commonly used in only commercial (Public toilet or office/shop toilets) installations.

I really want to replace my Model 111 with an oval type.
  • no water loss here (I've got twin 110 tanks) - the only time i see ANY loss is when i fill it too full (to the brim) and then i have some slight loss out the overflow ...but its not much, usually heading out of the neighborhood do to turns, but that loss is really insignificant and owner induced.
  • I've never heard of a Slosh Valve!
We never lose any water while travelling, although I did have to modify the tank overflow at one time as it used to syphon some water into the drain during filling if over filled. I installed the Vent in a slightly higher location than the factory had perhaps You have a similar problem !
  • The bowl doesnt have to be "half full"..! Enought water to cover the valve at the bottom and then RIGHT BEFORE and / each usage the person using it adds MORE WATER
