Interesting. We used the bridge twice this summer and it was the only one we've seen that DIDN'T charge extra for the RV and toad together. First run through we asked specifically and then saw the posted rates on the way back.
The Delaware Memorial Bridge, Delaware Bay Bridge and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel all really stick it to the RV'er with a toad. We disconnect/drive through/reconnect on all. These states are simply looking for easy money, and will screw any group they think they won't get too much squawk out of. At least I can screw back by disconnecting. Pity the poor owner/operator driving an 18 wheeler. These guys have few if any options at all.
By the way, we always use the far right hand lane and there's always shoulder room to disconnect and reconnect.
