A thing of great wonder about the Mackinac Bridge is that they say the toll is weight-based. It has nothing to do with weight. I have a 9500# coach that gets charged more than any other 2-axle because the rear are tandem (looks like two axles but is only supporting load in one place- SAE definition - 1 axle). They don't care. But, if they raise the toll again, it will be less expensive if I drive around Georgian Bay and cross back at the Blue Water.
