- TripleEExplorerAll the sites in this park are permanents. Some park models, some trailers that do not move. No overnights. My DIL used to own a trailer in the park. Most of them do not live there all the time. They are vacation homes. I am sure some people stayed but most were empty. Moving these trailers would have been impossible as most have decks attached, etc.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIThey did not all leave. Saw an interview on the morning TV with a woman who seemed shocked that she had been in a hurricane and he RV almost flipped over with her inside! You can't fix stupid!
- ferndaleflyerExplorer IIIThe ones stacked up are ALL tow behinds. According to local news some were occupied and there were injuries. A blind man can see that a lot of folks lost their stuff + some of those permanent ones took some hard damage.
- johnhicksExplorerI'd have screw anchors installed, then chain the axles to the anchors with shackles to comply with code but I'd be able unshackle and go if needed. It's hard to imagine someone would leave an RV in that area of the country over the summer and expect it to remain no matter how strapped down.
I guess no one learned anything from Rockport a couple of year ago. - RobWNYExplorerI would have liked to read the article and view the photos but the site demands that I turn off my ad blocker to do so. I don't turn it off for any website so they can bombard me with ads but it sounds like a mess.
- DutchmenSportExplorerLooks like the majority of those trailers were park models. They don't move on a dime. Lots to do to transport them as they are plumbed permanently and usually anchored down. Some have underskirting and some even have deck-porches. Lots of logistic to move one of those. I can understand why they were left behind. Hope everyone had good insurance.
- K_CharlesExplorerA lot of those campers belly up have wheels on them so I bet they could have been moved.
- joelcExplorer IIII live in NC about 10 miles from Emerald Isle with a 5er on my own lot. Don't know if I got hit yet as we are in Massachusetts until October. The reason the campers did not leave is probably because they can't. Unfortunately, it is the law down there that if your camper is going to be long term on a rental lot(not month to month) it must be strapped down like a mobile home is.
- Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIThey did leave, they just left their campers (from what I was seeing).
