Total over all length

We have millions of drivers driving slowly on fast lanes and nobody stops them from continuing, so why would the Police worry about couple extra feet of length, unless they want to pull you over for other reasons?
But have a backup plan. If your extra length is a toad and you have 2nd driver, that pose no problem. But if they make you disconnect trailer at check point (scales) that might cost you some serious trip interruptions.
