I'd be a little (actually a lot) concerned about the weight of the golf cart on the tail gate. Have you thought about getting some long boards, long enough to slide in the bed and extend beyond the tail gate, making a stronger platform for those golf cart tires, and it will distribute the weight onto the bed of the truck, and relieve some off the tailgate? I have seen folks transport 4 wheeled items in the bed of their truck and had to do exactly as you've described. The tires are barely on the end of the tailgate, almost falling off. I always thought, ... why not put a board under those tires?
