I have a 204 h.r. ready to go weight 20600 and I would like to tow my 2011 p/u weight 5030 with out my fat rear on board. It is a workhorse chasis with 8.1
the amount of weight you can safely tow will be the lesser of the following:
- the gross combination weight rating of the MH minus the actual weight of the MH as it is loaded and configured for travel
- the weight rating of your hitch
- the weight rating of your tow bar
the hitch is frequently the limiting factor and assuming you have a Class III hitch rated at 5000-lbs being overweight by 30-lbs won't trigger a calamity. but...
if your P/U weight includes a full tank of gas then tow it with less gas or offload some weight from the interior or bed. easily done. if the weight did not include the gas but was simply the dry curb weight then multiply the capacity of the gas tank by 6-lbs to get the correct total weight. IMO, 30-lbs is one thing, a couple of hundred is something else.
good luck.
