New problem: There are no numbers on the receiver hitch, however the manual says it came with a 3,500# Max hitch. I have no reason to believe that it's been upgraded so looks like I need a new receiver hitch. I'm leaning towards a 10,000# since that's what my tow bar is rated at.
More like 9K actually, but that's as long as all factors meet the criteria and a chain is no stronger than it's weakest link, which at this point, seems to be the hitch itself or the framework, it's attached to. A good hitch shop should be able to inspect, install and reinforce any of the frame that's required for making it more than durable.
