- pianotunaNomad IIIHi,
I bought one with flow through monitors. Be prepared to have the tires rebalanced. I did not and I wish I had.
The system has alarmed from over pressure 3 times from tires warming up. I've let out some air. - IAMICHABODExplorer III like theTire Tracker the lifetime warranty sold me, all others have a 1 Year, and the price is right. I did not have to have the tires re-balanced.
Also available on Amazon - 2oldmanExplorer IIEez here. Also purchased the repeater. Not flow thru. No rebalancing.
- Second_ChanceExplorer IITireMinder A1A with repeater on the fiver. Just ordered six more sensors/transmitters for the truck (unit will monitor 22 tires). Mine are non-flow-through and have not required re-balancing. The alarm went off once in the spring of 2016 when we took a piece of rebar through a tire. The alarm allowed me to slow down and get to the side of the road before the tire disintegrated and damaged the trailer.
Rob - RobocopExplorerTireMinder with the repeater since 2011. Normally cannot tire pressure does not register until I am rolling. Three flats over that time while on the road at highway speed and it alerted me to two. There was a programming glitch, perhaps human error, and one was not picked up. However, it has alerted me to high temp/pressure which gave me an opportunity to inspect and deflate, allowing me to continue on with no further issues.
- pianotunaNomad IIII chose the unit that had end user replaceable batteries.
- stripitExplorerI'm a TST guy, mine has been excellent and once programed, they just work.
- IT_BurnoutExplorerEeez with the repeater here too, and happy with it so far, just got it this year. I did all my tires on the truck and 5th wheel including the spares, maybe a bit overkill, but…
One thing to consider (for me anyway) as “Second Chance” pointed out. Some models don’t start working until your tires are rolling down the road. I wasn’t sure just how much rolling you had to do before they come alive, so I shied away from those.
I wanted something that would report pressure after turning it on while I was stationary while hooking up. I just wanted to know if I have any tires issue in the safest spot I could be.
Probably a price to be paid for that little feather with respect to battery consumption on the sensors. But I am ok with that possible downside. I guess that’s just a personal choice thing.
