Ken,
I hear what you are saying about the different filling methods... there is an adapter that they have to use... I think it is a male fitting instead of a female fitting on a regular 15 or 40 lb tank.
The thing is... they have the adapter. The very first time I went, they apparently filled it 'by accident.' So they can't even claim that they can't physically do it, because they HAVE physically done it.
I'm assuming that somewhere along the line, this store manager was told that it was dangerous to fill a tank that was not removed from a vehicle (meaning inside of a box truck, in a pickup, or in the backseat of a car) and instead took it at literal face value that filling ANY tank (including permanently mounted tanks on an RV) was dangerous, despite the fact that this is directly opposite of Tractor Supply's web site propane policy.
Yes, there are other places that can do it. The point is that a) The other place is more expensive and b) I make an actual effort to buy from TS (Instead of Amazon) because they are a real store that can provide service (such as propane) and items immediately if I would ever need them in an emergency. If a brick and mortar store WON'T provide services... there really is no reason NOT to buy from Amazon.
Stores complain that customers don't support them, but the stores have to turn around and support the customers as well.
