Tradewinds in hospital.

I took the Tradewinds into the CAT people for service before we left for a FMCA Rally at Indio and asked them to check for anything unusual. They found the TURBO was leaking oil. When they got the radiator out they called me and I went out and it was really gummed up. I was not surprised. It's gonna cost me a fortune but some things can't be avoided. Not asking for advice but thought others might feel better if they knew everyone has motor home problems. I'm thankful it's only a motor home and not a physical problem with one of my family members. They have done a lot of my service and they always show me what is going on before they do anything.

    WE try to clean the clean the radiator area every year of so.

    WHOA, $2,000 for a brake job! I'm in the wrong business. I'm curious what parts/labor hours they put into that job.... Just sounds like an awful lot of $ for a brake job.


    That was including smog check and rear seals that were leaking, etc.

    Don,

    Was it leaking oil externally, into the exhaust or into the intake? Those are the three possible locations.

    Not saying that you don't do it, but this is a good reason why it is so important on a turbo engine to let it cool for at least five minuets before turning the engine off. Especially if you have been climbing a hill or high interstate speed and just pull into a rest stop. The oil in the turbo bearings will cook and destroy the turbo and seals if shut down while still hot. You seem t have a great easy going attitude which you need if you own a motorhome. Lol
