So you were already on a trip and this happened? Either the cable is too close to exhaust or if you have a bad gound on the engine it will seek a path to ground...sometimes it is a shift cable sometimes it is through the main bearing to the crankshaft and then on through the driveline through the rear end gears..it can destroy all of it..you better figure out what created the problem..if it is a poor ground..you need to get that repaired before you start it
