And according to the Sprinter salesman that orders all the Sprinters for Sportsmobile Texas, there's going to be a 4x4 Sprinter here in the next couple years
+1. I have yet to see an automated manual transmission on this side of the pond. Almost always, it is some form of automatic (hydraulics, brake bands, planetary gear packs, and torque converter.) It might have a manual-like shifter, but regardless, it still is an automatic transmission.
I keep in touch with a Freightliner Sprinter guy, and he says the same thing about 4x4s, but it seems like it is always "next model year". However, he seems to be firm that 2015 will be bringing in 4x4 Sprinters to US shores. I'd be happy if that is so. Other companies I might laugh at if they have a 4x4 in the US, but Mercedes actually knows how to make 4WD and do it right.
