Where and with who can you rent for $70/week?

And you can buy towable cars for about half the price you mentioned.

We have had our 27' for a year now with no toad. Prior to this one we had a truck and TT. We find that when we are staying in one location for a week or longer a toad would be nice to run to the store or go sightseeing. At a week however, it is time to dump the tanks so we generally are unhooked to go to the store. If we were travelling every day or every few days we probably would never need a toad. So far, we are fine without one. We just find now we need to plan a little more.

We have a 32' Class C. we have done it both ways. We had a tow dolly for about a year. We used it twice. Not because it was a dolly, just because that's all we really needed as far as towing a car. My car got totaled in May. I opted to replace the car that can't be towed on a dolly or flat on the ground. Didn't see a reason to make a car choice based on a couple trips a year. We decided that if we needed to have a car, that my wife would either follow me (short trips) or we would rent once we got to the destination. So far, we haven't rented yet. It all depends on your trip and what you want to do. However, we are thinking of replacing her SUV with something smaller and flat towable. We got rid of the dolly. Sold it for what I paid for it minus $100. Not a problem as I put about 2000 miles on it...lol

I went on Enterprises sight and found wk end rentals very reasonable. Figured what towing equipment would cost and can rent 70 days. Then add fuel savings.

We're on our second Class C and have never towed. There have been very few instances when we felt that we missed having one. Most of the places that we go to (Walmart, movie theaters, restaurants, state and national parks, etc.) have ample parking.

I think that you will find that in a class B motorhome, a toad will not be a requirement. You will probably enjoy the freedom of needing to hitch up before leaving camp too!

I have gotten my 27' class C into many small parking lots, and parking at a grocery store is only a matter of parking further from the crowded area next to the entrance. I would park over one of the lines, taking up about 4 spaces, so that it is easy to get out of the space. Many parking lots are required by the city to have say 200 spaces, but they only have a minimum size of about 7.5' X 16' long, and that is only enough for a small car. They have no incentive to make the spaces larger, and can have more square feet of rentable space for each parking spot they can have on the property, so there is incentive to create more spaces, even if they do not fit modern cars between the lines.

Out sightseeing, there normally are locations for parking motorhomes and tour buses.

Even when we toad, I'd ask the park where we were staying if there were
guided tours available, if so we would use them saw more, learned more about the area this way.

Has anyone figured fuel difference ? toad no toad.
