- DuctapeExplorerMH plus bike is the best of both worlds. Yesterday it rained all day so we stayed in or drove the toad. Today is blue skies, time to ride!

Good advice.
And buy an enclosed trailer!
Yeah, I have an enclosed trailer, I don't want anyone to see I'm "hauling" a Goldwing, they're meant to be ridden. hehe.
Almost ALL the Goldwings you see on the road are being ridden. At least 1/2 the Harleys you see are in the back of a pickup or on a trailer.
Just pok'in fun at ya Rick.:B - TNGW1500SEExplorer"experience a few days in the NC Mountains in the Fall of the year. Gorgeous riding along the Blue Ridge Parkway"

- malexanderExplorerThis is EXACTLY the same kind of trip I told my wife I want to do when we retire in a couple of years.
We want to take the Goldwing in an enclosed trailer to "an area/base camp", and just explore for a few days. Then move on. No particular direction or place.
Although....we've always just ridden the Wing anywhere we wanted to go. ie Niagra Falls, Canada, Mount Rushmore, San Antonio, etc. Have never been SE though, but we will. - rickwellmanExplorerAgain thanks for the info. I would like a little more info on traveling california
- pedallyExplorer300 miles a day, stay a night or two orthree, depending on the surroundings.
Life is a journey, not a destination - BigRabbitManExplorerAfter crossing over to the CA coast above San Francisco, be sure to take the Avenue of The Giants in Northern CA. That is where you drive amongst the Giant Redwoods. Also visit some of the groves that were saved from lumbering so that you can walk among the huge trees.
