Wanting to set up base camps then ride motorcycle to see the sites. And suggestions?
Welcome to the forum.
Any suggestions? What type suggestions would you like?
Where to overnight? What sites to see? How to haul your motorcycle?
Will you be boondocking or using campgrounds?
How long will you be traveling?
If you can give us a little more info, we can give you better advice.
The best suggestion I can give you at this point is, enjoy your travels.
And, stay off the interstate highway system, travel the side roads. It's the best way to see America.
I wish I was taking a trip like the one you have planned. :C
I like to use Roadside America when traveling. Sometimes you can find something interesting. - Bill_SatelliteExplorer IIBest suggestion based upon your post is "have a great time"!
We will need a bit more guidance if you need some kind of specific recommendations. - msmith1199Explorer IIStep one, buy a motorhome. Step two, buy a motorcycle.
- Marine_By_ChoicExplorer"Mom, when I grow up can I buy a motorcycle?"
"No, son. You can only do one of those!" - blknomadExplorerUse an enclosed trailer so you can pack stuff you will never use. Make sure bike is in top shape, tires, battery ect. Keep an eye on weather, hail storms are no fun on a bike. I know Twice!:( Remember in the western states you don't have a Mickey Ds on every corner.

My suggestion: do it! Sounds like fun! - JumboJetExplorerStop in Arkansas and ride the Pig Trail. Find a good camping spot around Conway or Russellville, Arkansas and spend several days on the roads headed to State Parks and historic Ozark towns.
There are many State Parks with camping as well as Army Corps of Engineer parks, big chain rv parks, as well as private.
You won't be too far away from Branson, MO and there is enough to see and do in Branson to consume much of your travel funds. :) - crassterExplorer IIThere are many riders forums that will tell you great places to ride and sight see. :)

Drive north and experience a few days in the NC Mountains in the Fall of the year. Gorgeous riding along the Blue Ridge Parkway and plenty of campgrounds in the area to serve as a base for you. Envious of your trip!!! Have fun and enjoy this beautiful country!! - 2gypsies1Explorer IIIJust pick the place you want to explore and there will be a campground or RV park in the area. You don't need reservations to do this kind of thing. Just GO!
Here's is one site to find places to stay:
