Traveling to Florida in the winter of 2017

any thoughts on traveling to Florida this winter, places to go and see. Places to skip or good parks to stay at.

  • Dang, don't keep telling about that place. It's getting hard enough to get through the door already. But you're right, great shrimp.
Like Dutch, I made my reservation before I left the park last spring but you should be able to find some vacancies. You may have to do the park to park dance but it's doable.
  • HERE If you like the water, beer and shrimp it does not get any better than this. This will be the best shrimp you ever put in your mouth
  • Come on down and volunteer for the RED CROSS or FEMA. They need all the help they can get.
  • FL is a big State. N. FL is much cooler than Central FL which is somewhat cooler than S. FL. How hot and humid do you like it. Mid to S. FL is still going to be in the 80's at Christmas. "Winter" only happens for a couple of weeks (or less) during Jan or Feb. It's always humid and the bugs are always active.
Tell us a bit more about what you like, what you like to do, what kinds of things you might want to visit.

The good news is winter starts on what. 12/21 (about 3 months from now) of course yo ulikely mean "late fall".

The bad news is many parks are recovering from the storm so parking may be a bit .. Hard to find.

I do know a few places just NORTH of florida. Like Cathead Creek Ranch (50 miles) Jeckel Island (A bit closer) Jeckel or is it Jeckell is an attraction in and of itself. I have no plans to visit Floridia myself.
  • It's probably a little late to get into the most popular parks now unless the storm caused a lot of people to change their plans. We make most of our Florida winter reservations for the next winter while we're there for the current winter. And even then it's difficult to get the best sites in many parks. As far as places to go and see, what are your interests? Florida has attractions that appeal to a wide variety of people.
