I think we are all guilty of having a cup of coffee, snack or sandwich when we travel. Boat supply companies sell pedistal tables with a mount that screws to the floor, a post sits in the mount and a table top with cup holder indentations. Three pieces. The floor mounts are available either as a raised cone or a base that is flush mount with the floor between driver and passenger seats. You can take post and table top away when not in use. Anything but an attachment to the steering wheel. I don't feel the need to be constantly driving so we stop to actually enjoy a break and a sandwich. Hope you can change his mind.
