Trip to the RV graveyard

Stopped by Colaw RV Salvage this weekend. They do allow you to walk the junkyard portion.. I bet it's over 40 acres though! Just a few snaps, talk about of alot of ex-money setting there rotting! Didn't get what I was looking for most are picked clean fairly quick.

Exactly like my grandparents RV!

  • I know someone that works there - and they do go through them and take out most of the useable parts - we did walk around once looking for slide awning covers once - a great place to buy used parts

Where is this place? Kansas City I assume?

Per google just outside of Joplin, MO. East side
  • Seeing a bunch that caught fire, what are some of the causes, just so much wiring?

This one lives in the municipal marina parking area of Homer AK

When it's parked there, there's an information placard showing what it looked like after it burned as a Class A DP. I'm not sure the fire in this one was in the engine room. Seemed to be more like halfway back, extending to the rear. It's been a few years so I'm really not sure.
  • Lots of class "A"s there, with a "C" or two. Makes me wonder if the cause isn't fire or leaks, the lack of parts to get the thing back on the road, especially class "A"s with the RV maker out of business.
  • It's east of Joplin south of Carthage off of I44. Just thinking more Class C's probably go to regular junkyards due to the van front ends. With all the fiberglass wouldn't worth rebuilding... unless like something above.. that's some good rebuilding! Not sure on on front of the Class A DP's.. but there was plenty of frig and engine fire's!
  • Just think of all the stories those old RV's could tell us. :C
  • That was my thought.. and to think of all the dreams out there. I'd bet a majority doesn't have over 50k on the odometer. Alot of people buy RV's looking forward to big vacations but haven't the slightest on how to care take of it. One expensive problem it sets and rots.
