Has anyone heard of problems with the V-10 4.6L, 5.4L and 6.8L engines blowing spark plugs?
They all suffer from a very poorly designed cylinder head. The sparkplug holes face straight up, and are about five inches deep.
They are perfect for collecting water, and debris.
Adding to an already poor design, they saw fit to make the sparkplug hole shallow enough to only allow four threads to engage the spark plug.
There have been reports of sparks plugs being blown out of the head and stripping the threads in the aluminum head.
Apparently round 2001-2003, they went in some cases to a coil on plug,
- whatever that means - and this was better.
Does anyone know if there are after market heads for these engines that are better than the originals ?
