truck stop

can you get regular unlead at the truck stop where the big rigs get there?
  • Some truck stops have pumps for cars, trucks and RVs. These are the larger truck stops and will have signs showing islands for cars, islands for RVs and separate islands for trucks. The truck islands are usually to the rear of the main building with the car and RV islands towards the front of the building.
The big overhead signs (and signs on the highway) will show pricing for regular unleaded along with the diesel pricing.

I think it would depend on which truck stop. On/Off the interstates has never been an issue.
  • We use the gas buddy app to find fuel. You can search by type of fuel needed. Often, prices vary 20 to 30 cents per gallon within miles of each other. You can search by company; Murphy, flying j,etc as well.

Exactly. And when you are taking on 40 gallons that adds up.

i find Flying j to be very competitive price wise plus they have cool stuff to look at inside their store. Easy to fuel at their islands and that's something to consider also.

Go inside and ask to join the fuel discount program. You will save at least 3 cents per gallon, it might be 5 cents per gallon. Free to join, no cost or obligation, Do it.
  • Before I take a trip, I view google maps in satellite mode to view stations and places to pull in to sleep along my route.
Knowing how many miles I can run on a tank I calculate the approximate places to fuel up and pick stations with parallel islands because they are easier to navigate around.
