TV Connection in Bin is Cable, not HDMI

And you get exactly what you pay for... The output looks terrible, akin to old VHS. There's a reason that even the cheapest CATV modulators start at $1k. I hate to say it but analog RF is dead. If I ever do it again, every point will have at least one, maybe two HDMI runs. Hopefully this company that makes the routers will get it together and fix their reliability issues, then lower the price.

Going from Coax to HDMI is fairly easy, all you need is an ATSC tunner/decoder These receive digital TV and output it in several formats, one being HDMI (in some cases).

Going from HDMI to coax is technically easy though a bit costly.....

There are HDMI modulators, these are basically pico-TV stations, the take HDIM (most will also take A/V and a possibly other formats) in and output ATSC television, Just like your local TV station. Only have enough power though to feed a few TV's via COAX.. In the old days they had Modulators for A/V,, Those cost about 20 bucks and if you have an older Motor home with a DVD player and a box of many buttons.. the box has one built in in all likelyhood.

On your Sat Receiver (Which has been digital since day one) the coax out, if present, will be NTSC however (not HD)

I thought the point was that anything below 1mil didnt have HDMI?

I saw lots of them last year at the show, and also noticed the HDMI routers that Winnebago is using. The problem is that they all seem to die about a year out, and there is no parts or repair for them. You get to buy a new system for $400. There are lots of posts around about this and the timing is all about the same. How thatbworks for solid state gear with no moving parts i dont know, but the stories are the same.

Anyway I ran a 50' cable from the rear TV, down to the cable loom in the storage bay, popped out up front and back into the pillar next to the DSS. Took many hours but i can be done. The HDMI up front runs through an active HDMI DA. Do NOT use the passive ones.

Coax to the satellite receiver and HDMI from the receiver to the TV.

My 2014 Newmar Dutch Star came with an all HDMI option. They used powered HDMI splitters to send the signal to all four of my TV's.

How do they get from coax to HDMI?

Our, an '08, had no hdmi factory. RCA's (3 video and 2 audio) from the DVD player to the main TV, old style pushbutton video splitter is all coax, only thing going front to rear is a coax....

I put in a new TV and Bluray in the bedroom, but my connection to "the world" (satellite or cable) is that lonely coax.

Every TV I have even seen has an ANTENNA connection, be it a 5 inch portable or a 9 foot tall Video Wall it had an antenna input. That is your cable connection. This includes all 3 of the flat screens and the small (5") portable that is in the tool box.

The only ones I have not seen with an antenna/cable input were little pocket jobs that had their own rabbit ear.

Even TV-Tuner cards for use with a computer have antenna connections on them

And again, that is your "Cable" input.

The only ones I have seen that did NOT have a cable/antenna in were Video Monitors such as a VGA monitor for a computer.. Yes, they do make those,, But they are in a different isle and not marketed as Televisions, Most of which double as computer monitors now days. (including all 3 of my flat screen jobs)

Look at the 2014 Meridian/Journey from Winnebago Ind. They use a converter box to transmit HDMI to all the TV's on those coaches. Problem with HDMI is splitting it up from one source to several TV's.

BTW, I routed my HDMI from the front of the RV to my bedroom thru the roof vents. I used a copper pipe, heated it with torch to melt the styrafoam in the ceiling in places the vent was not their.

I already bought one of those converter boxes and will be using it. And I'm going to attempt to use the ducted vents too as I think I read about you doing this someplace else.
