After I bought it and used it a while, I found a discussion Here on the NET about it.

Having just returned from a trip, a little update on the use of the Rayzar.

The camping area that I was in is between the Greater Los Angeles area, where most antennas are on Mt. Wilson and an area we call the Inland Empire,Riverside, San Bernardino.

I could get both areas to come in after I did the scan on my TV with hardly no adjustment to the rotation of the antenna. I really like the way this thing works and the Bi-Directional reception that it gets.

As a side note with a little fiddling I could get some San Diego stations too and they were much farther away.
All non scientific and just what a common user got...Your results may vary :B

I'm watching TV right now with just the same o same o batwing antenna that came with my MH. I net 20 to 30 free TV digital channels.

IMHO you don't need no stinkin do-dad add on to get more channels or to get digital. The batwing RV antenna brings in all the TV digital channels just fine and for free.

Antennas are always a trade off.. At one end of the road is the Winegard "Roadstar" which I call the "Flying saucer" (If you see one you will understand).

This is an omnidirectional (All directions) and, really not much good since RV parks are rarely close enough to the transmitters for it to see them (Not long range)


The basic batwing, by itself, is bi-directional, if you spread your arms like it does and look straight ahead.. Well it looks both straight ahead and to the rear (Again straight) fairly wide field of vision though.. But it can see farther than the roadstar omni.

Now let's go to the Jack... Also has no rear view far as I know, but pick up a set of opera glasses or low-power field glasses (Binoculars) Now you can see farther, but side vision is lost.

Back to the Batwing... Add the wingman... Swap out the binocs for a small telescope.. Still narrower field of vision but again you can see farther.

Now.. Add the Sensar Pro module indoors.... (The optional Winegard Booster).

MUCH more powerful telescope.. But you retain the last field of vision.


So, if you need a wide field: THe jack

If you need a long range Batwing with wingman and sensar pro.

I replaced the Batwing with the Jack on my trailer. night and day difference. I went from 1 station that would drop out to 70 stations that were strong. I used to get all of the Chicago stations before the switch to digital. after the switch I was lucky to get the 1 I got! All my connections were good so for me the Jack is a huge improvement over the Batwing. and the Jack only cost me $35 on Amazon.

We've been using the Leaf antenna (http://www.amazon.com/Mohu-Leaf-Indoor-HDTV-Antenna/dp/B00APPDX86/ref=sr_1_2_m?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1408377132&sr=1-2&keywords=Leaf) for a couple of years and are happy with it. Last year when we were up-top cleaning and checking roof we removed the old batwing.

Not the best antenna, but certainly a cheap option. Just depends upon how far out you are when you want to watch TV.

I bought a Jack to replace the stock antenna on my motorhome. To evaluate the Jack I first did several channel searches with different orientations of the antenna. Once I felt that I had the best performance from it I could get I installed the antenna booster that came with the Jack but not the antenna. I about doubled the number of stations I could get without the booster. I then replaced the original antenna with the Jack. I lost about 20% of the stations I had. I ended up keeping the booster in line and retaining the original antenna. The Jack is in its box in the basement. I have not been able to fool with it anymore since then and I reserve the right to change my opinion if/when I get to do more testing.

Busskipper.........I saw that. I just wondered if the RV community had developed an opinion on the Leaf yet.
