TV Reception when traveling

Slightly off topic but if you want the TV for the kids while you travel I found that either a cheap portable 8" DVD player or for older children I use my laptop to play DVD's. Since you already have the inverter you can plug either in to charge with a much smaller drain on your house or chassis battery. Walmart $5 bin and Redbox and most Walmarts can be your friend.

I always worried about that TV being unlatched while moving. Mine is set up such that if I would accel to fast the screen would meet the corner of an overhead cabinet.

There may be an "input" menu on the TV using the remote control. Select " over the air" etc., not "Cable TV"

Read the TV manual for instructions on how to use the TV.

I agree that if it said it found 50some channels you either need to press exit or menu again or maybe a save button, or the TV software isn't working right. Remember you will have to re-aim the antenna and rescan for channels wherever you go so get used to it.

What DrewE said though is right for most antennas you would get bad or no signal. I have a Jack antenna and do get some signal when driving because I don't have to raise it, but it gets finicky whenever I turn direction cause it still has to be aimed to work well. You would also have to rescan for channels when driving through new cities so it's not really worth it.

By the way, for broadcast TV, the TV will not get reception while in motion. This is due to the nature of digital TV signals, which don't hold together well when the receiver is in motion due to changing multipath interference and perhaps other things. You can, of course, use a DVD player or similar non-broadcast video source.

(Some motorhomes do also disable the TV while the vehicle is in gear, generally for legal reasons because it's in front of the driver or visible to the driver. That would not affect your setup, I think.)

This has nothing whatsoever to do with its inability to find channels or to exit setup while parked in your driveway. I don't think your geographic location has any bearing on that; either the antenna signal isn't getting to the TV for some reason, or there's some oddity in the TV setup menu or firmware, or something.

Odors from construction of the rig can set off carbon monoxide detector. Rig needs to be aired out!

He hasn't called back so he must have figured out what it was - I'll know tonight and let you know tomorrow. We don't have it plugged in right now but the batteries are fully charged. We do have a 30AMP hookup to the house and are keeping it charged up. Only been on 2 trips but will have a cute story for you all tomorrow! This has been an adventure but all of you expereienced travellers out there were in our shoes once. Oh, by the way, it is a 2016 Coachmen Leprechaun 220QB with the Chevy chassis.

Welcome to the forum. It seems that you are getting some good advice here but,it is always helpful if you tell us the year,model and chassis that it is built on. You can put it in your profile or in your signature or in a post.

They all have their own idiosyncrasies and someone may have the very same unit and they can tell you what you need to know with that information.

If you have a used rig and the carbon monoxide detector is old, it may need replacement when it beeps periodically.

Try pressing the EXIT or maybe END button on the TV remote to exit the set-up screen.
