Undersink water filter diverter for winterizing

We have an Itasca Navion with an Everpure water filter, QL3 series. The Itasca book, talking about winterizing, instructs me to remove the filter cartridge and put in a "diverter" that, from what I'm reading, takes the incoming water and routes it right through to the outgoing side, so that you don't blow out your filter cartridge (if emptying the lines with air pressure) or fill it with pink stuff (if using RV antifreeze). I called Everpure this morning, and the nice lady at tech support was unaware of such a part. Amazon lists a "Shurflo EV300817 Everpure Diverter," but doesn't say what it fits. Does anyone know if this part will fit the QL3 filter head?

I suppose if I have to, I can remove the lines from the filter head and couple them together, but that seems more awkward than the little diverter plug thingie, if I can get one that fits.

Read the five pages of a recent discussion on air vs. pink RV antifreeze. Still confused and undecided...can you tell this is my first winter with an RV?
  • Interesting. Googling QL3 does not reveal a plug or diverter for that model. You already know that.

Our 14 View has a canister filter with a bayonet fitting. Simple. Remove. Insert "plug." Done.

I don't think the Everpure was intended for use in RVs where it can freeze. Thus, no "plug" for winterizing the system. Some Ql3s appear to have a shut off valve for changing the filter without needing to shut off the entire system supply. If you have a shutoff valve, simply close it and remove the filter.

Winterize. Just be sure to flush the antifreeze well before re-installing.

More: My View uses the 3M / Everpure??? Filter. The mountings look very similar and it has the bayonet "plug & twist' fitment. Perhaps somewhere rattling around in you RV is the "plug bypass." Perhaps under that removable shelf and in the hidden pocket with the plumbing for the water heater. Looks like this.

    Bypass Plug

I took mine and used a 3M Command Velcro hook and fastened it to the cabinet under the sink.
  • Probably Winnebago/Itasca uses same everpure filter system in different models. Mine came with a bypass plug similar to Old Crows.
  • Well, yep; when I drained the waste tanks, I poked around a little in the bin-like drawer under the RV, and found a plastic bag with bits and bobs related to water, including the diverter. The part number on the diverter I have is EV3008-616 (AU05, too, which may/may not be relevant), and it fits QC2, QL2, and QL3 heads, which I mention in case some future member is wondering.
