I had a 97 F53 and had a fuel pump problem, after replacing the fuel pump I them developed another problem that I thought was the fuel pump again. When I would be driving if I floored the gas at certain times my engine would start to miss and sputter but if I let up off the gas it would seem fine. I replaced the coil and problem was solved.
