Unlimited hot water (electric)

There are a lot of 'unlimited' tankless options if you remove the electric-only requirement.

Just need one more small consulting gig and I will get it ....

As I just posted in another thread, got an email from Truma telling me that I have a relatively close retailer for their AquaGo in Nags Head, NC. They told me to remove my existing hot water heater and install the Truma AquaGo should cost no more than $300.00 which to the novice (me) sounds reasonable. So, I am getting closer to doing it. Ken, the propane approach may end up being a good alternative that you might want to keep open...

OK, I surrender.

What I WANT probably doesn't exist, or at least, not yet.

There are on-demand electric water heaters available. The electric consumption is too large for virtually any realistic RV application.

Here is information on one such unit, a pretty small model. Note that it uses 50A at 240V, an entire 50A RV power supply, and only gives a 40 degree temperature rise at 2.1 gpm. I would guess that you would typically have a larger temperature rise and need a correspondingly slower flow rate...and not be able to use any other electrical devices in your RV, and probably not be able to power it at all from your generator.

Electric elements just won't transfer heat fast enough.

Do not forget to think about water hardness. I live in a hard water area and change gas heaters for 80Ltr hot water electric boiler as guests in our rental property could not handle the gas instant heater and were wasting water. Now we have the problem of scale on the element and carrying out maintenance to remove. Yes we have in line scale inhibitors and still trying to get them right. The best is instantaneous gas water heaters as you use it. In the states there are not many options and expensive compared to here in Spain.

Sorry but I have to chuckle to myself. In our S&B home, we have a 50 gal electric water heater and DW is trying to figure out how to get continuous unlimited hot water out of it for her showers.

Continuous and unlimited is a pretty tall order, especially for electric. If you're not satisfied with the water heater that came with your coach and how it functions on electric, your only other option is a tankless electric. They need a ton of power to operate, at least 30 amps at 110 volt and that end of the product line Is pretty low capacity temperature and gallons per minute wise.
