Unsafe At Any Speed With Pics

Saw this at a casino parking lot, hitch extension was about 2 feet long and almost bent at hitch, safety chains way under weight, trailer looked over loaded, axels looked like only 3000 pound axels, lights were bad, motorhome was a newer Ford F-53 chassis {gas} and look at what he was carrying.

  • Gotta have those toys, I guess. I hope they don't go flying across the highway sometime.
  • Normally, I think the "weight Police" sorts of posts are being a little overboard in their concerns, but this situation looks pretty scary to me. In addition to what has been pointed out, is that ATV riding on a ramp gate? If so what's holding it up. The receiver on my old 2011 ram 2500 was about to fail from 31k miles of towing an 8k trailer with a standard equalizer hitch. Can't imagine what that extension is doing to the receiver on this setup. Surprised something hasn't failed already, and when it does as pointed out it doesn't look like the safety chains will be of much help.
  • That's called a weight-distribution-ATV. It takes weight off of the tongue. ;)
  • Way too much wait on the tongue. Disaster in the making.
