Been using truck lanes for 17 years now. Never had a cross word with a trucker. Now that I really look old, they run to open doors for me; embarrassing, but nice. Just be courteous, don't hog the diesel pump, if it looks like a tie let the trucker go first; they are still trying to make a living.
I tow a 5th wheel and have a 26 gallon diesel tank; so I have to plan my refuelling carefully(what the heck, my refuelling pretty well matches my bladder). I use Google maps and make myself a printed list of where I will fill up along the route; stick to it pretty religiously. My list shows miles to next truck stop(can't go over about 160 miles), exit #, whether the station if N, S, E or W of the interstate, and name of truck stop. If it's a new stop for me, I zoom in with Google maps and make sure it is a place I want to pull in to.
